Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo is one of the most well-known and respected designers in the world. This fashion house produces clothing, accessories, perfumes … and, of course, shoes. It is the luxurious feminine footwear that began the history of Salvatore Ferragamo, which has lasted for more than 80 years.
In the early 20’s of the last century, a young shoemaker Salvatore Ferragamo left his native town near Naples and went to America to create shoes. And his dream came true: soon the young designer’s bright models attracted the attention of fashionable ladies and the first movie stars. Many famous actors and actresses of silent cinema visited his workshop, including Pola Negri, Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford.
If at the beginning of the century shoes were only a necessity, then by 1930’s they become no less important than clothing.
Ferragamo, along with other famous designers of that time, started creating original exclusive models.

The apotheosis of sandals was created in 1938 for Judy Garland – volume platform with all colors of the rainbow and gold straps. This revolutionary model is still a source of inspiration for many designers.
Then, in the late 30′s, Ferragamo returned to Italy and settled in a luxurious palace of the XIII century Florentine Spini Feroni, which is now the central office of the brand.

In 40-50’s Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques have appeared in many cities, but the most loyal fans of brand are Hollywood stars. It is Ferragamo, who created elegant shoes for Marilyn Monroe in the movie “Only girls are allowed in jazz”…
… And white sandals for the movie “The Seven Year Itch”, depicted in the famous picture with flying white skirt.
For Carmen Miranda, designer thought patterns on platform; for Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich – narrow shoes with a small heel.
Ingrid Bergman, Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, and Katherine Dunham also idolatress of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes.

Over time, the brand came under the management of his wife and the eldest son Ferragamo, but it has not lost its brilliant style and the connection with Hollywood. For example, in the 90′s of the Salvatore Ferragamo made 14 pairs of shoes for Madonna for the movie “Evita”.
Now most of the models created for the movie, are in the museum of Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence.
Last year the fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo celebrated its 80th anniversary. The new collection is full of original ideas. For example, sandals with an unusual wedge-heeled shoe and metal thin silver leather binding or boats that combine suede, matte and lacquered skin.

By the way, the beauty from Salvatore Ferragamo does not require victims: for many years, elegant shoes necessarily include orthopedic insoles and comfortable shoes.
