Asia is always offering fresh ideas for modeling clothes and shoes. This time shoemakers in Taiwan mastered a production of environmentally clean shoes made of recycled paper. Four thousand pairs of designer shoes from recycled paper have already been sold. It seems interesting for Taiwanese to flaunt in these slippers with newspaper painted hieroglyphics. More popular are paper bags, which fit the whole front pages with color photos of local film stars, each of which is worth about $260.
The manufacture of a bag takes one or two days, while Taiwanese masters create shoes for four hours. The technique involves a complete rejection of chemicals, varnishes and all other toxic components.
